Your Child's Day

So-High runs on an open plan system. Our day starts at 7.30 a.m. and the formal programme commences with a greeting ring at 8.00am.

A period of free choice of activities is then offered. Under the supervision of a teacher in each area, children are free to pursue a wealth of exciting activities. We offer design & technology, creative activities which include painting, cutting and sticking, puzzle building, construction toys, block play, dressing up in fantasy clothing, riding on the cycle track and playing in the garden. A large adventure centre, jungle gyms, swings, sandpit, water troughs and wendy house are available for the children to develop physical skills.

At snack time children sit at tables and good manners are encouraged.

A ring (time when children sit in a ring) follows free play. Our rings incorporate four different aspects necessary for our children. These are music and percussion (two per week), movement and drama, discussion or object study and developmental play.

Different themes are followed each week and an interest, nature and cognitive table each display appropriate objects and posters. These provide a spring board for lively discussion which stimulate the childrens' natural curiosity and broadens their general knowledge.

The morning ends with a story and a quiet time in preparation for going home. In the pre-school year and extra period of school readiness is included in the day.
